Anna University

Anna University was founded on fourth September 1978 as a unitary type of University. It provides higher education in Technology, Engineering and affiliated Sciences accordant to the accepted and projected needs of the society.

Anna University is split in six universities, namely, Anna University of Technology, Chennai, Anna University, Chennai, Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore, Anna University of Technology, Tiruchirappalli, Anna University of Technology, Madurai and Anna University of Technology, Tirunelveli. It is accredited by the University, who has power, links to colleges and universities to research and postgraduate students and the

courses offered and therefore recognized by the UGC to implement.

 Anna University Tiruchirappalli

Anna University Tiruchirappalli, (formerly Anna University Tiruchirappalli), the Technical University was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu. It starts on 1 February 2007 at Tiruchirappalli. The University is 17kms away from the highway of Tiruchirappalli to Pudukkottai. It provides higher education in Technology, Engineering, allied Sciences and Management.

Anna University Tiruchirappalli was known as the School of Engineering, Bharathidasan University and Bharathidasan Institute of Technology later (BIT) is known. In December 2007 it was changed to a affiliating university, where almost all technical universities in the southern region under its folds, and absorbs all state technical colleges in Tamil Nadu as its constituent colleges. It contains sixty four self financing colleges, 5 constituent engineering colleges, 3 MCA colleges, ten MBA colleges and 3 colleges offereing architecture.
